Open Banking Terms
Intertax Group · Version 2026-10-14.2 · Applies when you connect a bank account to Intertax Books.
These terms apply when you connect a bank account to Intertax Books so that your transactions come into your books automatically. They sit alongside our Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy and your engagement letter with us.
01What the service does
Once connected, Intertax Books regularly reads your account details, balances and transactions so we can keep your bookkeeping up to date, reconcile your accounts and prepare your accounts and tax returns. It saves you sending us statements.
02Who provides the connection
Intertax is not an Open Banking provider. The connection to your bank is provided by Fena Labs Ltd (“Fena”), which is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide account information services (firm reference number 934835). Intertax uses Fena’s service to receive your data. Fena’s own terms and privacy notice apply to the connection, and you accept them when you connect.
You log in and approve the connection at your own bank. Neither Intertax nor Fena ever sees or stores your bank login details.
03Read-only access
The connection is read-only. It cannot make payments, move money, or change anything in your account. Intertax does not hold or move your money.
04What data we receive and how we use it
- Account details: account name, sort code and account number.
- Balances.
- Transactions: dates, amounts, descriptions and the names of the people and businesses you pay or receive money from.
We use this only to provide accounting, bookkeeping and tax services to you. We do not use it for marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to make credit decisions.
05Where it is stored
Imported data is stored in Intertax Books’ database, hosted by Supabase in the United Kingdom (London), and the application runs on Vercel in London. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. The credentials that let us read your account are stored encrypted and are never shown to anyone.
06How long access lasts and how long we keep data
Each connection lasts up to 90 days. To keep it running you will be asked to confirm again, and if you do not, it stops and no further data is read.
Transactions already imported become part of your accounting records. We keep them for as long as our Privacy Policy says we keep client records (the engagement plus 6 years), because tax law requires records to be kept.
07Who we share it with
- Fena, which provides the connection.
- Our hosting providers (Supabase and Vercel), under data-processing agreements.
- HMRC and Companies House, only as part of filings you have asked us to make.
Nobody else, unless the law requires it.
08Withdrawing access
You can withdraw access at any time, without giving a reason: email us and we will disconnect it, or remove it in your bank’s app or online banking. Once withdrawn, nothing more is read. Withdrawing does not delete data already imported (see section 6), and you can still send us statements instead.
09Your responsibilities
- Only connect an account you hold, or one you are authorised to connect on behalf of its holder. If you connect a business account, you confirm you are authorised to do so for that business.
- Keep your bank login details private. Never share them with us or anyone else.
- Check the transactions that come into your books and tell us promptly if anything is missing, duplicated or wrong. Your bank statement remains the official record of your account.
- If a claim or loss arises because you connected an account you were not authorised to connect, or because you broke these terms, you are responsible for it and will cover our reasonable costs and losses that result.
10Fena's service and its limits
Fena provides the connection under its own terms, and the limits in those terms apply to the connection. In particular, Fena:
- does not guarantee that its service will always be available, uninterrupted, complete or free of errors;
- may change, suspend or stop its service, in some cases with immediate effect;
- is not responsible for inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by banks;
- is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and limits its other liability to the fees paid for its service; and
- may change its own terms from time to time.
Intertax relies on Fena for the connection and cannot offer you more than Fenaoffers us. So, to the extent permitted by law, where Fena is not responsible for something, Intertax is not responsible to you for it either.
If Fena suspends or stops the service, your bank feed stops. We will tell you as soon as we reasonably can, and you can send us statements instead. We may move your connection to another provider authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, but only after asking for your consent again.
11Our responsibility
We take reasonable care when we use imported data to keep your books. To the extent permitted by law, Intertax is not responsible for:
- any interruption, delay, suspension or ending of Fena’s service or your bank’s systems;
- errors, gaps or delays in the data supplied by your bank or Fena;
- any loss caused by an account connected without the account holder’s authority, or by you not checking imported transactions or not telling us about a problem; or
- any indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit, business, goodwill, opportunity or data, whether or not it was foreseeable.
Our total liability to you in connection with the bank connection is limited as set out in your engagement letter with us and, in any event, will not exceed the fees you paid us for Intertax Books in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
12Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the version number above changes and you will be asked to accept the new version the next time you connect or confirm a bank account. Changes to Fena’s own terms are published on Fena’s website.
